Foreigners learn traditional Japanese culture through the uniquely Japanese art of the tea ceremony, in which tea is served in a refined and elegant ritual. An enjoyable cultural exchange experience with volunteer instructors.

With the help of volunteer instructors, participants learn the basics of ikebana and create flower arrangements, whilst learning about Japanese traditions and cultivating an appreciation for the beauty of the four seasons. A particularly well-received program, past participants have remarked that “working with flowers is energizing and uplifting.”

Yukata Experience for Foreigners

Participants experience how to put on a Yukata, a relatively easy to wear traditional Japanese “Kimono”; then go for a stroll around the Nippori area. The program takes place in early summer, when there are many opportunities to wear yukata, and we encourage participation in traditional summer events such as local Bon Odori and fireworks festivals.

Cooking classes for foreigners and Japanese people, to share and exchange their native cultures through cooking. Participants cook traditional Japanese dishes as well as dishes from other countries.
